Use Application Source to get better insights about where applicants found your job

Use the Application Source field in applicant info card to specify where the applicant originally found or heard about the position.

With this new field, you can enter any channel such as Linkedin, Xing, Stepstone, Career Fair, Email etc as free text to make the application source more clear.

Specifically for these cases:

• When an application is added manually to a job, the entrance channel is shown as 'Added manually'. In order to specify this, you can enter the origin of applicant in the new field. For example; Active sourcing – Linkedin.
• When an applicant is moved to another job, the entrance channel is shown as 'Added manually'. In this case, you can specify the original channel in application source field. And if the application source is filled already in the first application, it will be transferred when the applicant is moved to another job as application source.

How to add Application Source for an applicant?

1. You can add it manually:

• In application detail page, you should use the edit mode.

• Then, you can add, select and delete new channels in Application Source field.

Note: Please be aware that only Admins can add and delete the application source channels. But the users who have permission to edit the applicant can select the channels from a dropdown list.

• The dropdown will make you suggestions when you start typing.
• Also, we suggest you to check the existing ones from dropdown while adding a new channel here to not to create duplicate variables.

     2. You can add this question to your application form:

• We put “How did you find this position?” for you on Application Form so that you can add this question to your application form. You can reach it from Settings > Customization > Application Forms page.
  • You can add the question and customize it as optional and mandatory.
  • Once it is visible in the application form, the applicants answer the question by selecting from the dropdown list.
  • Then it will automatically be shown in the application info card in Application source field.
• You can also add new channel from the Settings page as well.
• Please do not forget that this customisation applies for all jobs so if you add this question in your application form, it will be shown in application forms for all jobs.

Analysing the Insights

The Application Source field is now available in Applicant Report.  You can reach it from:

Reports > Snapshots > Applicant Report

First, it should be activated from filters then it will be ready to download. In order to analyse the insights, it is recommended to have the report together with Entrance Channel and combine these two fields if needed.
